Music in the soul can be heard by the universe. Jorja Alice Smith is one such artist who has been writing songs since the age of eleven. Dominating the R&B, pop, neo-soul, and grime genres, she has earned worldwide recognition and the love of millions of fans. Named as the Best British Female Artist at the Brit Awards. Jorja has delivered several chart-busting singles. Her talent has also earned her a Grammy nomination. 

Early Life

Brought up in Walsall Midlands, Jorja was born to an English mother & Jamaican Father. Her interest in music began at a very young age. She started taking piano lessons at the age of eight. Later on, Jorja also started learning the oboe and began studying classical singing. She was actually discovered by record producer Guy Moot when one of her friends uploaded her cover on YouTube. When she turned 18, Jorja moved to London as she graduated college.

Music Career

Jorja’s professional music career began in 2015 when Maverick Sabre co-signed her. Soon, she released her debut single titled “Blue Lights”. Her second single “Where Did I Go” also caught the attention of Guy Moot. In 2016, Jorja released her four-track debut “Project 11”. Due to her talent, Jorja was also featured as one of the fifteen rising acts on BBC Music’s Sound of 2017.

In September 2017, Jorja started dating singer and producer Joel Compass. Soon after in 2018, she released her single “Let Me Down” which featured rap artist Stormzy. In the following years, Jorja released several stellar tracks. This has earned her millions of fans all across the globe. She draws inspiration from artists like Adele, Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse, Nina Simone, and several others. Overall, Jorja Smith is an extremely talented artist and we can’t wait to see what she has next in store for us!
