Seattle-based Americana artist Dean Johnson is back with a hauntingly beautiful new track, “Blue Moon.” The single, which is the A-side of his upcoming Blue Moon b/w Lake Charles 7″, is set for release on April 11, 2025, via Saddle Creek's Document series.

This follows the success of Johnson's 2023 debut album, Nothing For Me, Please. This collection elevated him from a local favorite to a nationally recognized artist.

A Timeless Sound with Personal Reflections

“Blue Moon” showcases Johnson's warm, expressive tenor, paired with a rich instrumental arrangement that includes pedal steel, upright bass, and electric piano.

The song strikes a delicate balance between melancholy and comfort, evoking the quiet intimacy that defines much of his work. Lyrically, Johnson reflects on the nostalgic feeling of waiting for something—whether it's the sound of someone approaching or the stillness of a late-night bedroom window.

In Johnson's own words, the song is “an ode to bedroom windows; to climbing out of them late at night.”

2025 Tour Announcement

Alongside the release of “Blue Moon,” Johnson has also announced an extensive 2025 tour. Spanning Europe, the UK, and North America, the tour will take Johnson to major cities. These include places he has previously performed at like these festivals: Roskilde, Bonnaroo, and AmericanaFest.

Having shared stages with artists such as Jenny Lewis and The Cactus Blossoms, his growing fanbase can expect more intimate performances. For more updates on Dean Johnson's music and tour dates, be sure to keep an eye on his social media.
